I took my road at fifteen when I first heard Dylan. That path has continued throughout my life and Dylan's music always reflects honesty and magical storytelling - round in loops similar to the ghost-like helix.

Geert Van Baelen - Belgium - Age: 30
I took this picture near my house in Overpelt, a little village in Belgium. It’s a region with a lot of desolate views and landscapes. When the weather is bad there is a melancholic atmosphere. When I was with reworking this pic, the words en the melody of Dylans’ ‘Love Sick’ came in my head spontaneously. It has certainly influenced the color pallet. A lost dog, and a crow in the background symbolize for me the human being in the song who’s moving true a desperate moment.

Geysens Davey - Belgium - Age: 21
This picture (Graphic Consciousness) is a personal drawing on red paper. It represents the (graphic) stream of consciousness that was so specific for the beat generation, and especially for Dylan. Sometimes with his music in my ears, I drawed the smooth shapes mindless, reflecting only emotions. Included is a detail of the drawing which makes Dylan look on fire, as always.

Gwen Jones - Bosnia and Herzegovina
As a teenager I grew up entranced by the country, then scruffy urban images that Dylan projected on his 60s albums. My photo-eye was forever influenced. I took this photo in a Roma Settlement in Kosovo in May 2007. This guy perched over his fence and moved me to click. Forget about race, country, year, this guy had such an alive, spontaneous Dylan look about him. But for sure, he has never heard the name Bob Dylan.

James McGuire - Scotland - Age:35
The photo I have included is as simple as any image I can imagine in relation to what it is to be a human being. Our journey on this planet is to move forward... regardless of the constant storm bearing down. It is a journey you ultimately make on your own... with an open heart, an inquisitive mind and hopefully a sense of humour. It is these three fundamental values that form the entire foundation of Bob Dylan's body of work... And thats what makes him such an important and influential songwriter.

You could easily replace them with Bob and Joan, as the scene is full of potential inspiration for cryptic and cloaked love songs.

Joe Keeton - USA - Age: 53
I call this image, taken at a veteran's cemetary, "Beyond the Twisted Reach of Crazy Sorrow" after the lyric from Mr. Tambourine Man. Dylan often includes death imagery in his lyrics and I have felt that the phrase might be a description of the peace to be expected after death, whether one belives in an afterlife or not. The use of graves of American veterans to me also reflects the quintessentially American nature of Dylan's work.

The moon is my favorite subject to photograph… I think it’s the dreamer in me. I get the same kind of feeling from putting on a Dylan CD as when I gaze up at the moon on a crisp summer evening here in the mountains. It’s hard to categorize or define… but then so is the Ultimate Bob Dylan. There’s just no putting Bob in any kind of box. People have tried. They will never succeed, and I think that is a huge part of his magical, enigmatic appeal.

Hard Rain Cover
It's 20th July 1969. Armstrong and Aldrin are walking on the moon and I'm lost in the Sahara desert. A Tuareg nomad rescues me. He makes a fire rubbing two sticks together, then turns on a battered cassette player. Bob Dylan sings "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall". I get the idea to photograph each line of Dylan's extraordinary song.
It took 40 years, but now the exhibition and Bob Dylan's words are touring the planet - it will even be shown at United Nations headquarters in New York.
Hard Rain illustrates the issues that are defining the 21 century - climate change, habitat loss, pollution, poverty and human rights. There is now a widespread acknowledgement that human beings are changing the climate. But we are still in denial, and the implications of global warming hover just outside the grasp of our imagination. Perhaps Bob Dylan's piercing words and these photographs which conjure up a future too terrible to contemplate will help bring alive the problems that are ours to solve.
