This 2-disc live album, recorded in Tokyo in early 1978, finds Dylan backed with a band similar to that on Street-Legal, performing a kind of career retrospective, including at least one song from every studio album he had recorded up to that point, with the exception of Bob Dylan. Most of the tracks find superb Dylan vocals encrusted with arranged touches from saxophone, flute, and keyboards, as well as prominently featured background singers. When it works it delivers new insights such as on the powerful re-imagining of "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" and a fine reading of ’ÄúForever Young.’Äù Dylan sounds relaxed and happy most of the time making disarming remarks before some tunes.
